Documentary on Giddes Chalamanda's Life and Career in the Works


Social media personality Pemphero Mphande has announced plans to produce a documentary on the life and career of veteran musician Giddes Chalamanda. Mphande shared the news on Wednesday, providing an update on Chalamanda's health after his recent hospitalization.

Chalamanda, 94, is recovering well and showing signs of improvement. Once he is back on his feet, Mphande plans to start working on the documentary, which will showcase the musician's life, career, and contributions to the Malawi music industry. Mphande has invited potential sponsors and directors to reach out to him.

Art enthusiast Emmanuel Maliro has welcomed the initiative, stating that it is essential to preserve Chalamanda's legacy and enable future generations to learn about Malawi's music heroes. Chalamanda has had a remarkable music career spanning over six decades, with popular songs like "Akazi ndimawaya" and "Che Mmeli".

MALAWI FILM INDUSTRY GETS BOOST FROM NIGERIAN COLLABORATION

  Renowned Nigerian actors Charles Awurum, Charles Inojie, and Nkeiruka Sylvanus have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Film Association of Malawi (Fama) to collaborate on a new movie production. The partnership aims to support the growth of the local film industry in Malawi.
