GET TO KNOW GUNTOLA

Guntola, whose real name is AbduRasheed Maloko, hails from the serene village of Balaka, located within the T/A Samala region of Malawi. However, he currently resides in Blantyre, specifically in the lively neighborhood of Machinjili. Born in 1998, Guntola is the youngest of three siblings and the only boy in the family, which has shaped his unique perspective on life. Raised in a Muslim household, he values discipline, respect, and the rich cultural traditions that come with his heritage.

Guntola’s journey into music began in earnest in 2016 when he decided to pursue his passion for the art form. Over the years, he has carved out a name for himself in Malawi's music scene, delivering authentic sounds that resonate with his growing fanbase. To date, he has released two impressive projects that showcase his versatility and musical depth. His first project, the KUTCHUKA NDI NGOZI EP, a collaboration with fellow artist K Banton, was well-received and introduced Guntola as a promising talent. More recently, he dropped his full-length album MAKHETHARIAN, which has been gaining traction and is available for purchase at the Malawi Music Shop.

Aside from his music career, Guntola is also a young, ambitious entrepreneur with an eye for business opportunities. He is currently pursuing a degree in Business Marketing at MCA (Malawi College of Accountancy), where he is sharpening his skills in the world of business. Furthermore, he holds an advanced diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which he obtained from the prestigious Polytechnic, demonstrating his commitment to both creative and technical fields.

Before venturing into music, Guntola was actively involved in sports, particularly football. He was a player at Kinna Phiri's Academy Football Club, which was formerly associated with the Malawi national football team. His time in football taught him valuable lessons in teamwork, discipline, and perseverance—traits that he continues to carry with him in his musical and entrepreneurial pursuits.

In every aspect of his life, Guntola exemplifies hard work, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence, and he continues to strive for success as both an artist and a businessman. His journey is one of passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his craft.
