Rastafarian Community in Malawi Hosts Jamaican Musician Ras Ivi Tafari
The Rastafarian community in Malawi is set to host prominent Jamaican musician and Rastafarian elder Ras Ivi Tafari for two days starting tomorrow. Ras Tafari will arrive at Chileka Airport in Blantyre and will be welcomed by the Rastafarian community.
During his visit, Ras Tafari is expected to give lectures at the University of Malawi and Malawi University of Science and Technology. He is also expected to visit the Chileka Tabernacle for prayers.
Ras Tafari is known globally for his association with Nyahbinghi chants, which are integral to Rastafarian Sabbath gatherings. He has composed over 100 chants and has played a pivotal role in the global spread of Rastafari consciousness.
Ras Tafari's visit to Malawi follows that of another prominent Jamaican Rastafarian, Burning Spear, who visited the country in October last year. The Rastafarian community in Malawi is excited to host Ras Tafari and learn from his experiences and knowledge.
