Tawonga Nkhonjera Aims to Preserve Malawi's Culture through Folktales
Actor, playwright, and writer Tawonga Nkhonjera has launched his second children's book, "Chuchu and Other Stories", at Kweza Arts in Lilongwe. The book is part of his efforts to promote and preserve Malawi's culture through folktales.
Nkhonjera plans to collect more folktales and write 10 books, each containing 10 stories, to preserve the country's culture, traditional practices, and knowledge. He conducts extensive research, engaging with children and grandparents to learn about stories and traditions.
The launch of "Chuchu and Other Stories" was a success, bringing together like-minded people to promote literature and storytelling in Malawi. Nkhonjera will launch the book in Blantyre and Mzuzu, and has partnered with Kweza Arts to work with kids in storytelling, creative writing, and folklore.
