MALAWI FILM INDUSTRY GETS BOOST FROM NIGERIAN COLLABORATION
Renowned Nigerian actors Charles Awurum, Charles Inojie, and Nkeiruka Sylvanus have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Film Association of Malawi (Fama) to collaborate on a new movie production. The partnership aims to support the growth of the local film industry in Malawi. The MoU was signed at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe, and it will enable the Nigerian actors to contribute to Fama's operations.
The partnership is part of a K40 million collaboration between the Shepherd Bushiri Foundation (SBF) and Fama to foster industry growth and support Malawian and international actors. Speaking after the signing, Charles Inojie assured Fama of their commitment to work with local industry players. Shepherd Bushiri, the founder of the SBF foundation, also emphasized the importance of such partnerships in elevating the film industry.
Fama president Dorothy Kingston expressed gratitude for the partnership and assured their partners that they are ready to work together. The collaboration is expected to promote the growth of the local film industry in Malawi and create new opportunities for filmmakers in both countries. Kingston noted that the partnership will open doors for capacity building of industry players and create new markets for Malawian productions.
