Boxing Legend George Foreman Passes Away at 76, Tributes Pour In

George Foreman, the two-time world heavyweight champion boxer and Olympic gold medalist, has died peacefully at the age of 76, surrounded by his family. His family announced his passing on Instagram, describing him as a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grand and great-grandfather.

Foreman was born in Texas in 1949 and grew up in Houston. He turned to boxing at 17 to lose weight and became a Golden Glover. At just 19 years old, he won a gold medal at the Mexico City Olympic Games in 1968.

Foreman's professional career was marked by success, but he faced a devastating defeat in 1974 against Muhammad Ali in the historic "Rumble in the Jungle" fight. Foreman retired from boxing for good in 1999, finishing with 76 wins and five losses.

In addition to his boxing career, Foreman launched the George Foreman Grill in 1994 and competed on "The Masked Singer" in 2022. He fathered 12 children and is survived by his fifth wife, Mary Joan Martelly, and his children.

Tributes have poured in for Foreman on social media, with boxing legends and fans alike paying their respects to the late boxer. Mike Tyson, Scottie Pippen, and Ring Magazine were among those who shared their condolences and remembered Foreman's legacy.

Foreman's impact on the sport of boxing and beyond will be remembered for generations to come. As one fan commented, "The George Foreman vs. Muhammad Ali fight 'Rumble in The Jungle' will always be considered a pivotal event in heavyweight boxing history RIP George Foreman."
