Malawi's Q Malewezi, Dark Shadow Selected for Afrikan Stories Programme

Celebrated Malawian poet, Q Malewezi, has been selected as a mentor for the Afrikan Stories for Social Change Programme, to be held in Accra, Ghana, from April 14 to 16, 2025. Q, who is also President Lazarus Chakwera's special adviser on creative industries, will be mentoring young multimedia storytellers alongside award-winning South African photographer Andrew Tshabangu.

Q expressed his excitement about joining the programme, stating that storytelling is a powerful tool for shaping narratives, preserving culture, and driving change. He looks forward to mentoring the team and amplifying African narratives. Meanwhile, Malawian poet Dark Shadow, real name Christian Kamwendo, has also been selected as one of the 20 storytellers for the programme.

Dark Shadow, a poet, writer, and spoken-word artist, has used her art to share powerful stories exploring themes of love, loss, justice, and human rights. She is also an advocate for youths and women's empowerment, championing education, art, and well-being as forces for change. Both Q and Dark Shadow will represent Malawi at the programme, sharing African stories and promoting social change through art and poetry.
