Veteran Broadcaster Dyson Gonthi Launches Rural Welfare Arts Organisation



Seasoned culturist and broadcaster Dyson Gonthi is set to launch the DyGo Foundation, a rural welfare arts organisation, on Saturday at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Gonthi, well-known for his roles in radio programmes on MBC Radio 1, said the foundation aims to provide a platform for people in rural areas to showcase their talents in music, dance, theatre, and visual arts.

The launch event will feature music, in teractive workshops, and idea-sharing sessions on enhancing arts and culture in rural areas. Gonthi emphasized that the foundation will be vibrant, holding talent competitions with prizes for winners.

The 83-year-old Gonthi, passionate about arts and culture, wants to take a lead role in unearthing talent in rural areas. He also plans to use the foundation to organize shows and raise funds to help the needy.

Gonthi's passion for arts and culture dates back to 1964, when he staged a play titled "The Coming" as a form three student.

The DyGo Foundation launch is free of charge, and Gonthi has called upon people to attend and be part of the initiative.
